Photo rules
Good photos make good portraits — and some photos we cannot accept. These rules apply to every photo you upload.
What works best
- One clear photo for each participant, in the box made for them.
- For people, the face is clearly visible, well lit and not hidden.
- JPEG, PNG or WebP, up to 25 MB, at least 256 pixels on the shorter side. iPhone photos are usually converted to JPEG automatically.
Not allowed
- Photos of children (anyone under 18).
- Nudity, underwear, swimwear or shirtless photos — people must be fully clothed.
- Photos of people who have not agreed to it, or photos you have no right to use.
- Violent, hateful, illegal or otherwise offensive content.
- Several people in a box made for one participant, or a pet in a box made for a person.
How we check
Photos may be checked automatically before a portrait is created. Automatic checks can make mistakes and do not verify age, so these rules remain your responsibility. We may refuse a photo or delete content that breaks the rules, without a free replacement.
